The unexpectedly popular TLC reality series featuring Kentucky sisters Amy and Tammy Slaton, aptly titled 1000-lb Sisters continues to attract attention as the sisters chronicle their lives, loves, and weight loss journeys. As season 4 recently wrapped, the sister’s transformations were impressive, and there have been some big changes in their lives.
Recommended VideosFans were invited into the Slaton sisters’ lives in early 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic got underway, and have since been graced with three more seasons of Slaton drama. The most recent season, season 4, concluded in 2023 showing the sister’s progress on their weight loss journeys, and Tammy finally tying the knot. Yet a lot has apparently happened since then, and we wanted to know everything. Here is what the (formerly) 1000 lb sisters are up to now.
Where are Amy and Tammy Slaton now?
During the breaks in between seasons, fans are left with little and general social media fare to rely on for updates on the Slaton sisters. Fans who harbor concerns over the sisters’ health, in particular, find themselves searching for updates on a regular basis.
Over the course of three aired seasons, the Slaton sisters have been hard at work tackling their weight and working toward a happier, healthier future. Amy has been particularly successful in this goal, gradually shedding weight and welcoming two children into the world. She and her former husband Michael, welcomed their first child, a son, Gage, in November 2020 and their second, another son named Glenn, in July of 2022.
Unfortunately, Amy and her former husband and high school sweetheart Michael parted ways in March of 2023. In what became a messy divorce and court battle, according to InTouch, Michael reportedly filed a restraining order on Amy, and the two were barred from contact or discussing their split on social media or other outlets. They now are legally divorced and share custody of their two children. While tumultuous, the split seemed to only further motivate Amy in her goals to live her best life as her weight loss journey continues.
Amy Slaton weight loss
Amy’s weight loss journey has been a wonder for fans of the series to behold, as she gradually slims down and works toward a brighter future. She began at a weight of just over 400 lbs, and is now down to about 280 lbs, with a loss of 125 lbs and counting! Amy had gastric bypass surgery and that along with following a healthy diet and exercise plan has been able to drop the weight and so far, keep it off. Her latest Instagram photo has her looking slimmer than ever, showing off her new figure and bright purple hair. The caption reads “Beautiful day to smile!!!” and she certainly looks happy, healthy, and living her best life.
The busy mom of two and her family were initially rumored to be taking a break from filming, according to a February interview with The Sun. Amy told the publication that the filming schedule became “a lot” during season three, and shared concerns that she may no longer be able to keep up. Yet she came back for season four stronger than ever and has been enjoying her newly single life. She attended the Spark in the Park music festival in Michigan with her sister Tammy, who is also single and has gone through quite a weight loss transformation of her own.
Tammy Slaton weight loss
Tammy Slaton experienced a terrifying health scare near the end of season 3 and was holed up in a weight-loss rehab center. The center was reportedly a major drain on Tammy’s wallet, according to The Things, but as the sister tends to do, she bounced back and came out stronger than ever! These are some tough Southern ladies, and they are now proudly showing off their new lives and figures.
Tammy is almost unrecognizable in her new photos, and it’s no wonder — she has lost over 300 lbs and counting! Following her bariatric surgery in 2022, Tammy continues her weight loss journey with careful medical supervision. At her heaviest, Tammy was at a life-threatening 717 lbs, and her health scare finally inspired her to change her life for the better. Her decision to check into the food addiction rehab was the turning point for her journey to wellness, and as we can see from her latest photos, it is going very well!
Unfortunately, Tammy did lose her husband Caleb Willingham, who passed away in July of 2023. Season 4 showed the two finally tying the knot, yet in a July 2nd TikTok video, Tammy confirmed the 40-year-old’s passing. While she did not get into details of what happened, she did report that although the couple had their ups and downs, she loved and missed him very much. Caleb, too, was on a weight loss journey, and the two married in a small ceremony in November, all of which was documented during the show.
The Slaton sisters may have had some very big obstacles to overcome, both in life and love, but they are now seemingly doing better than ever. With a hit show and some serious health improvements well underway, the two are continuing to draw a lot of positive attention and seem to have a lot to look forward to. While no news of a season 5 has been revealed yet, we are willing to bet with everything that’s happened since the season 4 finale, a season 5 can’t be far behind.
