A new report provides an update on former AEW World Champion MJF, who has been dealing with injuries since November.
MJF reportedly came out of AEW Full Gear banged up, as he was said to have injured his shoulder and his hip. He later said he had a torn labrum, but he remained featured on AEW programming. He headlined AEW Worlds End on December 30. There, Samoa Joe beat him to win the gold in a match where it was clear that the champion was working through injuries, as his shoulder was heavily taped.
On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the situation. He reported that MJF is debating whether to have surgery or rehab the injury. Meltzer noted that the surgery would put MJF on the sidelines for “quite a while.” (H/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com.)
Following AEW Worlds End, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reported that MJF was expected MJF to be off TV for a while.
WrestleZone will monitor the situation and provide more information as it becomes available.
