Hines was the lead singer of rock band Severance and had a #1 hit on the Billboard R&B chart with Luther Vandross. He starred in his own TV show, The Gregory Hines Show, and had recurring roles in Will & Grace and Lost at Home. He also provided the voice of Big Bill on Little Bill. In film, Hines appeared in History of the World: Part I, Tap, and The Preacher’s Wife. He won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2003 and was nominated for multiple other awards.
