Graciela Beltran is a Mexican-born singer, songwriter, and actress popular for her outstanding performances in Norteno, Banda, and Mariachi music with the likes of Vicente Fernandez and Selena.

The American singer was born Graciela Lopez Beltran on December 29 1974  in Sinaloa, a small village located in the Costa Rica town of Mexico. Her family migrated to Los Angeles, California when she was 6 years old alongside her five siblings.

Graciela belongs to a mixed heritage. Her father Salvador Lopez and mother Julia Beltran were originally natives of Tamazula, Durango, Mexico. They relocated to the small town of Sinaloa after getting when they got married.

Not so much is known about her educational background except that she was a student in Inglewood, California nevertheless one won’t be far from the truth to suggest that she also enrolled in musical classes to hone her skills.

1. She Started Singing at the age of six

Graciela Beltran started writing her songs at the age of six. She gained an audience from several restaurants and parties in the Los Angeles region of California.

At the age of 18, Graciela was already making waves in her musical career. She ventured into regional Mexican music including norteno, banda, and mariachi alongside other singers in that region and recorded several songs.

After four years, she was scouted by the EMI record label representative who was ready to set her up for success. She recorded her first album “Baraja de Oro” which was one of the first singles from the six albums with EMI.

Graciela became popular in 1995 when she released the song Tesoro and went on to appear in many Latin American television programs including Sabado Gigante and Siempre en Domingo.

2. She Experienced a lot of Tragedies while Growing Up 

Graciela’s childhood days recorded so many tragic events. First, her brother Salvador López Beltrán was kidnapped in the city of Guadalajara Jalisco and all searches for him turned out futile. His body was never found and it’s not known what became of him. His tragic disappearance took a toll on her mother who never fully recovered from the incident.

Moving on, when she was only nine years old, she witnessed her brother-in-law and stepfather murdered in cold blood right in front of her.

Graciela is a woman of many crafts. More than being a singer, she also excels as an actress. The Mexico-born has made at least five film appearances. Some of which include;

4. She Maintains a Good Relationship with Her Mother

The singer is very fond of her mother who has become her best friend. She recalls how her mother struggled to provide for her needs and that of her siblings without a father figure in their lives. The singer goes all the way for her mother.

5. The Singer was Involved in a Controversy with Jenni 

Graciela and Jenni were friends following their passion for the same genre of music. However, their friendship soon turned sour when Jenni’s dad Don Pedro signed Graciela into his band and turned every attention toward her

Jenni on the other hand felt neglected and the friendship between the two fell apart. While many fans thought they would eventually make up and become friends again, Jenni was unfortunately snatched by death during a plane crash.

Other sources claim that the whole rivalry between the two started after Jenni recorded a song in 2009 and Graciela interpreted the lyrics as a direct insult to her even though her name wasn’t mentioned.

Surprisingly,  Graciela at 29  hasn’t been linked to any man. She does a good job of keeping her privacy. However, in 2019, she made it clear that there was no man in her life.

That same year, the singer went on to reveal her desire to be a mother through insemination if her prince charming doesn’t show up in time. According to her, she is not afraid of being a single mother because she watched her mother raise six children all by herself since her father was never in the picture.
